Residential Matching Game

Inside Out: Match interior images with their exterior architecture

Jones Studio’s residential work begins with the particular character of a place: its land, its climate, and the people who will call it home. In this edition of the matching game, created by Eddie Jones, FAIA, and featured in our 2026 Q3 e-newsletter and the 32nd edition of Arizona Residential Architects (ARA), four homes take shape from the earth itself, through rammed earth walls raised from Sonoran Desert soil and self-supporting brick vaults on the Sea of Cortez.

The premise is simple: pair each numbered photograph with its lettered counterpart, one interior and one exterior of the same home. Take your best guess at the full spread below, then use the sliders to reveal the answers. Along the way, you’ll get acquainted with a few of our favorite residences in Phoenix, Paradise Valley, and Puerto Peñasco, Mexico.
