1999 | Phoenix, AZ | Private Residence | 4,300 sq ft

Within any suburban community, there are opportunities growing within the cracks of conformity waiting to be recognized. Lisa Johnson and Eddie Jones understood this when choosing the site for their residence. No one wanted the lot with a natural 18,000 acre backyard because it shared its view with a conspicuous water tank. Lisa and Eddie saw this as merely another addition to a list of inevitable site constraints, and the residence stands as a testament to their success. Rammed earth anchors the residence to the site, while cylindrically composed outdoor rooms make friends with the ‘Mother’ cylinder. Carefully composed, the residence side steps the tank while focusing its views towards the beautiful South Mountain preserve.
