With next month’s election looming, we take the position as a studio family that we believe in and support our evolving democracy. With this in mind, on November 3rd, Jones Studio is clearing our project commitments (as much as possible), and will take part in the following:
In the morning, we as an office will hold a design charrette with the intent to instigate a spirited conversation about our democracy within the context of the “Rethink Dupont Circle” design competition hosted by The Architectural Review.
Among some functional components, it ponders: ‘As a landmark within the city and common meeting place for residents, we ask entrants to speculate on potential new urban scenarios which facilitate social exchange, community activities both day and night, public protest, and free citizen interaction so critical to healthy, democratic life.’
We will exchange ideas and discuss the possibilities, with all Jones Studio family members prepared to discuss what they feel this project is about and where our studio can take it.
Furthermore (and most critically), we want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to vote and are giving our staff the rest of the day off to take an active role in facilitating the vote.
Join us: be creative and engage the day.
