On Wednesday Jones Studio happily hosted the Living Building Challenge Sonoran Collaborative for their end-of-year meeting. Jones Studio member Shawn Swisher helped to organize the event, and acted as host along with Jones Studio chameleon Tony Pensiero and water wizard Brian Farling. The Collaborative is the local chapter of the International Living Future Institute, a worldwide organization dedicated to promoting comprehensive community restoration through good building practices, most notably theLiving Building Challenge.
The agenda recapped the previous year and the Living Future UnConference, and kicked off brainstorming for the coming year of events and activities. In addition to Collaborative regulars, the meeting also included a teacher and a few of her students from Grace Christian Academy, eager to learn about the Living Building Challenge for their robotics and future cities class.
Jones Studio is delighted to provide a space for the generous, positive, and pragmatic spirit of Living Building, and to learn more about and help spread tools and ideas for a more socially just, culturally rich, and ecologically restorative built environment.
The Collaborative will have a new calendar of events starting up in August or September, so be sure to keep an eye out for those dates! Also check out the International Living Future Institute’s upcoming events, and other ways Jones Studio is helping to create a better future.
