Students in the Tontozona Studio work on a site model.

On Tuesday next week, April 30, from 6:00-7:30pm The ASU Tontozona Vertical-Collaborative Studio will hold an architecture exhibition and end-of-year celebration at Events on Jackson, 245 East Jackson St, Phoenix.

Jones Studio Senior Associate Maria Salenger is one of twenty-seven professionals working with the group, starting March 27th and ending with this exhibition.

The studio launches a new teaching model, combining ninety third and fourth-year students, three shifts of professionals, and three full time faculty—Claudio Vekstein, Felipe Mesa, and Catherine Spellman.

The studio is taking on a project proposed by the non-profit
organization Tonto Creek/Tontozona Camp on a 36-acre property owned by ASU in
the Tonto National Forest. The studio is organized around three scales of
projects, master plans, buildings, and 1:1 pavilions, with a five-week studio
segment dedicated to each scale. The building programs are a spectrum of
housing type (tent sites, cabins, a hotel, and apartments), a conference
center, dining hall, outdoor classroom, pavilions, and fire pits.

Be sure to mark your calendar to see the studio’s work, and check out other upcoming events from The Design School. Also check out other ways Jones Studio members are committed to developing future professionals.
